In Chinese Zen (Ch’an) Buddhism, there is a concept known as the “four unattainables” (sì bù kě dé - 四不可得). These are: “perpetual youth, no sickness, perennial life, and no death.”
When we live our lives in pursuit of these things, we sow the seeds of our own suffering.
